Our online training resources are drawn from our workshops and the work of activist educators we know and admire. We have grouped them under the four dimensions of activist learning identified by US activist educator Steve Chase: social action skills; big picture thinking and political analysis (including strategy); organisational development and maintenance; and personal development and lifeskills.
|
 | big picture analysis - These political analysis tools and frameworks are designed to inform, motivate and enhance strategic action. | | | strategy - In our 'Strategising for Change' workshops, participants share and experiment with several campaign planning templates. Our workshop resources are available for downloading from the 'strategy page'. Increasingly, we work in an embedded way with organisations to help develop and evaluate campaign strategies. | | | social action skills - Social action skills, Steve argues, include "political education, recruiting people, choosing issues, selecting targets, planning action strategies, running media campaigns, Internet activism, lobbying, electoral work, nonviolent direct action, community organizing, networking with sympathetic allies in the public and private sectors, participating effectively in public hearings, community-based action research, building coalitions, collaborative problem solving, and a wide variety of cultural preparation work." | | | working in groups: organisational development and maintenance - These skills are required to establish and maintain organisations to initiate and sustain effective community action. | | | personal development and life skills - Personal and interpersonal skills contribute constructively to collective action and help activists avoid ‘burnout’. | |
Our process guides provide step-by-step instructions to guide facilitators and educators. Most of these resources were developed for workshops we've facilitated with social change and advocacy organisations.
