What's on top?

As the 20 passionate and inspiring campaigners in this year's Community Organising Fellowship approach their graduation in early September, we're focused on recruiting next year's cohort. Are you looking to deepen your organising skills and strategy? Do members of your team or community network yearn to build community power to bring about social and environmental justice and hold decision makers to account? If so, we encourage you to apply for the 2016 Community Organising Fellowship - a structured course with four residential workshops and an extensive curriculum delivered by expert facilitators and guest presenters. Applications close 31 August (extensions can be negotiated). Our sliding scale of fees ensures significant concessions for small NGOs and grassroots activists. You'll find the application form here. and our great new video here.

In other news, we're inching closes to launching the first instalment of the People Power Manual that we've been working on for several years. The first instalment is a 150 page guide for campaign strategy written by and for activist educators and campaigners, containing how-to guides for 24 strategising processes. The guide will be launched in Sydney during the inaugural Organise conference 24-25 September. Stay tuned for details.

elusive craft

The elusive craft of evaluating advocacy

Advocacy evaluation is a craft, one in which tacit knowledge, skill and networks are more useful than the application of a rigid methodology. It is an exercise in trained judgment. The evaluator, rather than the formal qualities of the evaluation, is what matters.
