Here is a book of stories written by people who decided to act, in their own lives, in response to the challenges of our time, and found their own way to make a difference. They are not stories about celebrities or gurus of the environmental movement but honest accounts from people who share a concern for the world we live in and who, in the words of one of the contributors, “just got on with it”.
The search for a well being – well earth is dependent on real and regular opportunities for humans to experience themselves within powerful naturescapes. Unfortunately we spend less and less time outdoors. Our increasing everyday alienation from nature undermines the depth of heart and soul commitment for the earth. At a time of ever increasing environmental devastation, we aim to provide opportunities for participants to review and reflect on the effect this devastation and the accompanying disconnection from nature has on a personal and social level.
The living world is not ‘out there’ somewhere, it’s in our hearts. Our work combines Ecopsychology with Sustainability Education, to nourish you on a journey of Self discovery that can transform our world. We weave the Personal, our Earthly clay bodies – values, attitudes, unexamined assumptions, personality; the Planetary – the Ecological Self and the Political – your action and work in the world. They are all connected. We are all connected.

Active Hope is about finding, and offering, our best response to the crisis of sustainability unfolding in our world. It offers tools that help us face the mess we’re in, as well as find and play our role in the collective transition, or Great Turning, to a life-sustaining society.
